External honorific awards, prestigious fellowships and membership in honorary societies can all enhance a scholar’s visibility and increase networking and additional recognition opportunities. To assist with identifying these, the Awards & Recognition team at the Office of the VP for Academic Development compiles a regularly updated list of current external recognition opportunities (EROs) for HKU academic staff which are Open, Limited or Internally Coordinated. HKU staff may visit this dedicated intranet page for nomination guidelines, eligibility criteria, announcement timelines and much more.

In the case of Limited and Internally Coordinated opportunities, please carefully follow the internal instructions within the record. Open opportunities do not need to be approved in advance; however, for record-keeping purposes, wherever possible, please notify facultyawards@hku.hk of any nomination plans or submit this brief information form. Assistance with the nomination process may be available in certain instances if time permits and analysis may be provided where previous data exists, so please reach out at your earliest convenience to discuss. Possible support includes identifying candidates via top-level analysis of previous award recipients, review/revision of submission materials to ensure they are as complete and compelling as possible, and suggesting potential co-nominators.
